We recently announced our “Fighting to Stay Fit Program”. Many of our students have asked if this is for students only. No, it is not. This is open for anyone who would like to have a Krav Maga style fitness class without the self defense and contact. This program will help you achieve your fitness goals no matter what they may be. Some may need to lose weight, increase endurance, become stronger, or to just have fun. In addition to a solid 45 minutes of cardio and strength training, we will also be covering striking fundementals and will be introducing kickboxing and boxing combos. Each 5 week course will cover a new kick boxing set. There are a total of 7 sets with each set having 7 combos. This will be a fun, high energy class in a safe but hardcore way !!!!!!
If your spouse have ever considered training in Krav Maga but have been a bit intimidated of the class, than this is perfect. Give me a call if you have any questions regarding classes.

Benefits of Krav-Maga
Krav-Maga is a very modern and innovative style of Self-defence. This system has been continually refined and developed in light of actual modern combat and Self-defence experience. Practitioners of the style incorporate new lessons learned to improve the style’s techniques, encouraging individual student’s creativity.
Krav-Maga was developed for use in the street.
Hence there are no rules. When an individual is attacked in the street there is no way to know how many opponent’s or weapons one might encounter, therefore Krav-Maga training are based on a system without rules. In an assault situation an individual has the right to use whatever techniques is necessary to defend himself/herself. For this reason there are no competitive tournaments or katas in Krav Maga . The techniques practiced in the style must be in terms of actual defence situations. In fact, students of Krav-Maga are taught the vulnerable points i.e. back of neck, temples, eyes, throat, knees, groin, etc. of the human body and are encouraged to use this knowledge to fend off an attack.
Krav-Maga uses a simple approach to learning.
Through constant practice and repetition, the most effective defences against each kind of assault become almost second nature and automatic, so that in actual “street” confrontations they will be immediately utilized. By emphasizing and practicing a few key defence techniques for each assault the style is able to consider a wide range of defence options hardly ever found in other styles, making Krav-Maga a complete fighting system.
Benefits For Adults & Children
Awareness
Students of Krav-Maga use basic moves in various combinations to fend off violent attacks. This means that students adjust to new situations through improvisation, an important and unique feature of this style. Of course, this requires using the “head” as well as the body, and thus Krav-Maga addresses the thought process as well as the physical action.
Confidence
Improvisation also allows for limitations in physical abilities. Not everyone can bring his or her leg up to a 180-degree angle, and therefore the system is geared towards the average person. Students are taught a variety of possible defensive reactions for each possible attack situation, building upon an actual framework of useable techniques. They are then encouraged to utilize the responses that are appropriate to their capabilities. This allows the student to develop a sense of confidence in their abilities.
Physical Fitness
Because physical fitness is closely interwoven into the system, the workout includes a number of cardiovascular and strength building exercises, as well as stretching to increase flexibility. Emphasis is put on speed, endurance, strength, accuracy and coordination, especially for intensive Krav-Maga training.
Krav-Maga is a style benefiting both the individual who seeks serious Self-defence training as well as the practitioner seeking to round out prior martial art knowledge. The bottom line is that, it is a style that proves most effective against any type of assault.
Principles of Krav-Maga
■Avoid injury
■Devise drills that take advantage of natural reflexes
■Defend and attack in the minimum time required

Here are the two combos we did today in class. These are Progressive combos 1 &2.
Combo #1 - rt cross / rt uppercut / lf hook / recoil and lf hook / rt straight / rt / lf / rt / lf / rt uppercut (this last part is a speed combo).
Combo #2 - lf jab / rt straight to body / lf uppercut / rt cross / lf hook / rt low rnd kick
Remember to work the timing of these combos. These are designed to teach you body sponsorship and solid basics. I suggest you do each hit one at a time and then build the combo until you have the whole thing down. This is why we call it Progressive Linking Combos.
Have fun and keep coming to class. Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.

Okay. We are ready to get back to what we do best. Teach! We have had some much support. It has been overwhelming. The day of the flood i have to admit felt like the sky was falling. We felt so frustrated. Our business was growing and we seemed to be on the right path then like a punch to the face, we were in trouble and had no where to teach. From the beginning, so many of our students, family and friends stepped up and volunteered there time and services and the burden was lifted. By ourselves it would have been difficult to keep pressing forward. Because of the love and support of all of you, we have moved forward and know that when one door closes another opens. It turns out that this will be a much better space and will allow us to grow. Sometimes things happen for a reason and this certainly seems to be the case here.
Through all of this we have realised several things, We have so much support and people that believe in what we do. You are never alone if you have family and friends and lastly as hard as this seemed at the time, there is always challenges that are far worse than this. Looking back we are grateful for this challenge because it was a way to grow and learn. My wife calls it “failing forward”. We hope one day to be able to help others in need as all of you have done for us.
A special thanks to Ed, Dan, Kati and Jack for there time and services in finding a place and getting the construction done. Also thank you everyone for your generous donations. With deposits, construction cost ,etc., it was quickly adding up. So many donations came in and we were able to cover a good portion of the construction cost. Everyone has been so patient and have stood by us during this time. All of us at Krav Maga SLC are excited about getting back to worK!!!! I promise to make classes better than ever and will come up with a way to thank all of you. If you have any questions or concerns, call me at 801-907-1579 anytime.
We will be having a open house this Saturday from 10-2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. We will be having refreshments and are proud to show you our new place. Classes will resume (normal schedule) on Monday the 28th.
Our new location is 8496 South Harrison Street suite #113. Sandy, Utah
Take 9000 south exit off of I-15. Head East and turn left of Monroe street/ Frontage road. Take the next left (Harrison Street), follow it for a 1/2 mile and you have arrived.
See you all real soon and thank you so very much.

here’s where we are at:
Building permit is in hand. Scheduled start time Monday morning (2/21).
The sawcut will happen and then they will excavate, set the forms for the footings and install the rebar. The city is closed on Monday, so we already scheduled an inspection for Tuesday morning. As soon as the inspection takes place, we will call for cement.
The cement will have to set for a day, then the columns and beam can get installed. The final cement pour (to finished floor height) will take place the following day and we will clean up.
.
Call me if you have any questions.

Hi Everyone. I just want to update you all of what’s happening regarding our move. As you probably know, we had a severe flood at the Draper location. We were told that it would be 6-8 weeks for the insurance assessment and then another week before we could occupy the space. We had to find another location. We have secured a lease located at 8496 south Harrison Street in Sandy Utah. This is just off of 9000 south and the east Frontage road. This new space is beautiful and will improve our business tremendously. We will have a downstairs and upstairs workout room as well as a nice lobby for parents. In order to make the new space usable for classes we had to remove several walls that were load bearing walls. Because of this we have had structural engineers and Architects draw up a solution that will accommodate our needs. We are having steal columns and a 18 inch beam installed. This is taking a bit of time to get the plans, permits, etc., If all goes well we are planning on having this done by mid next week. I am sorry for the delays and i promise things will not only get back to normal but will improve. We will do whatever is needed to make this a easy transition for all and i have a couple of ideas on how to credit everyone so they are getting what they have paid for. Please hang in there with us and know that we value you all of you very much. Please visit http://www.thekravblog.com for updates. Thanks again and if you have any questions contact me directly at 801-572-7677 or my cell 801-907-1579.
Thanks again for your continued support.

Daniel Medley here. I’ve gotten permission from Paul to high jack his blog in order to put up a PayPal Donation button. Most of you will have arrived here via Face Book.
As you probably know, Krav Maga SLC has had to make some changes due to flooding at their Draper location. Paul has secured new space located at 8496 South Harrison Street #113 in Sandy. This is the second unplanned move in less than a year.
I visited the new facility the other day and I can tell you that Paul and his family have been working very hard to get it ready as soon as possible. Walking through the new space it is apparent that it will be far beyond everyone’s expectations. It is a two story building with a large lobby/waiting area, bathroom, kitchen area, and enough space for a separate equipment area in which Paul plans to hang heavy bags.
If we could get 100 people to donate, one time, $20 or $30, it would go a long ways to helping Paul alleviate the unplanned expenses incurred, and to provide us with some very useful equipment. I think it would be a win win situation.
I’ve talked to Paul and he’s going to put a “donation bucket” at the new facility. Also, you can donate here via PayPal.
